Demand for “best job in the world” crashes website
Posted on February 2nd, 2009 No commentsThis news piece from Reuters highlights the importance of having a website that can keep pace with your visitors.
The chance to be the caretaker of a tiny tropical island in Australia has sparked so much interest around the world that a rush of applications crashed the website advertising the post.
The job, which offers a salary of $105,000 to spend six months on the Great Barrier Reef island of Hamilton, has been inundated with hundreds of thousands of prospective candidates.
An official from the state of Queensland, which is offering the position, said the job was created as an antidote to the global economic slump and was being advertised in 18 countries including the United States and China.
Local media said technicians had to restore the website after it could not cope with the volume of interest and crashed for several hours. Some sections are still not up and running.

What David Fife from Road Master Central had to say about his experience with SpinnaWeb:
One year ago we were at a stage in our new business that we needed a web site.
Lloyd Johnson had been recommended to us as a highly competent web site designer and we were not disappointed.
As we had little idea on what was required to set up a website Lloyd quickly put us at ease and asked us about our business, how we did business and our objectives. With that information Lloyd quickly came up with different approaches we could take and efficiently guided us to come up with a suitable format to custom build a site that was just right for us.
Not only was our site completed in record time but working with Lloyd proved to be effortless in that he quickly envisaged what we needed and came up with just the right result for us.
We can thoroughly recommend Lloyd Johnson of SpinnaWeb and have no hesitation in endorsing his professionalism .

Prouse Family Accountants
Posted on May 14th, 2008 No commentsIn May 2008 SpinnaWeb was approached to implement interactive features on the Prouse Family Accountants Website. Prouse Family Accountants specialise in supporting families by providing tax, business, investment and superannuation services
The interactive features developed for the Prouse Family Accountants Website was designed as part of their marketing strategy. The main feature, a registration form, collects information from website users and does stringent validation of their answers. For example, they don’t need to worry about people not filling in required fields or providing invalid email addresses - the form will only accept their answers if they are valid. Upon receiving valid answers the form automatically emails the person that filled it in and provides them with a PDF with more information about the services of Prouse Family Accountants along with information of immediate benefit to them. The Prouse Family Accountants office also receives an email with all the details they need to best serve that person.
The interactive features were originally implemented onto the Prouse Family Accountants website in May 2008 and remain in active use on their website to this day.
Visit the Prouse Family Accountants Website.
What Matthew Prouse from Prouse Family Accountants had to say about their experience with SpinnaWeb:
I have been aware of Lloyd Johnson’s work as a web developer for several years. His efforts to create complex interactive features on the Murdoch University Student Guild website first caught my attention in 2006. His later work with a variety of commercial and non-profit projects cemented my belief that Lloyd Johnson is a developer of exceptional quality and professionalism.
When our firm decided to launch a comprehensive website in mid 2008, SpinnaWeb seemed like a logical choice. I am pleased to report that Lloyd Johnson completed our project in less than 7 days and it was exactly as advertised.
Lloyd Johnson worked with us from the beginning of the project and followed up on the results regularly for several months afterwards. He helped us choose the correct platform and then customised the technology to meet our exact requirements. His hard work has enabled us to deliver some great new services to our clients and has generated considerable profits for us.
One year later, it still just works!
Matthew Prouse, Prouse Family Accountants
